10DLC - What Is Required

What is 10DLC

10DLC stands for 10-digit long code. It is a standard 10-digit phone number that businesses use to send text messages (SMS) to customers in the US and Canada.

Unlike in the UK or Europe, US phone networks are particular about the source of any given SMS and how it is sent.

10DLC is required to:

  • Help carriers reduce spam and fraudulent SMS messages.

  • Ensure valid SMS messages are delivered reliably.

  • Shows that the business sending the SMS is legitimate and authorised to send messages in the US.

Failure to complete the 10DLC registration process may result in your messages being blocked and undelivered.

Why does this registration need to be completed?

This is to ensure compliance with US regulators; all businesses that send SMS messages to US numbers must register their 10DLC numbers.

A 10DLC is a process that registers your brand alongside the numbers. We need to submit various documents to the US network regulators. This process allows businesses to send text messages (SMS/MMS) to customers/clients.

How do you register with 10DLC, and is there a registration fee?

Devyce submits the 10DLC registration form on your behalf. The associated charges for each number registered will be added to your monthly invoice.
